Raised in Pasadena from the age of 3, I often found satisfaction through sculpture and wood carving. In high school and college at the U of H, I developed a strong love for using the pottery wheel.
Life’s Path
After college, I was taken away from art as I tried to find my place in the professional world. For many years my desire to create art was dormant until I fulfilled a life long dream of becoming an art teacher. As an art teacher, it is required that I get back in touch with my art. My students appreciate that I actually make pottery and sell it. They begin to see the many potentials of art.
Hand Made and Functional
I love to look at all kinds of art and to work with different mediums. But there is something special about making a piece that is considered artistic and can also be used to enhance our everyday experiences. My favorite thing to do is to use a handmade cup for my Blue Bell Dutch Chocolate Ice Cream. I get great satisfaction when talking to clients who uses my pottery to drink coffee or eat cereal. They describe how that piece of pottery enhances those everyday experiences.
Faith and God
We are all God’s creation. I believe God made each of us for a reason. As I struggled through the restless years of my life and looked deep inside to see what yearnings and longings were there, I am confident that God has gently nudged me to the place I am now with family, friends, and my work. In my beliefs, many things have evolved, but the one constant is that God values us and so we too should value each other. If you ever meet me, I hope I demonstrate that to you.
